PLANTATION COTTAGES - A HAVEN FOR RELAXATION

Comprising of 30 Plantation Houses that radiate out into the evergreen coffee fields, Arusha Coffee Lodge has been designed around the original landowner’s home that dates back to the early 1900’s.

The theme of coffee permeates throughout Arusha Coffee Lodge, reflecting in the colours and textures of the delightfully comfortable accommodations with beautifully appointed en suite bathrooms.

THE MAIN PLANTATION HOUSE - AN IDYLL OF WARMTH

The homely feel of the Lodge is by no means accidental as the origins of the homestead continue to emit glimpses of times-gone-by. The friendly and personable staff help create an ambiance that continues to draw appreciation from all those who visit and stay.

Within the main Plantation House reside an ‘a la carte’ restaurant, an intimate cafe bistro and a cozy lounge, all of which have inviting open log fires to warm you from the cool night air.

With an enclosed, intimate swimming pool, a popular garden terrace, and acres of lush coffee plantation, Arusha Coffee Lodge encourages exploration and discovery at every turn.

Plantation Suites are spacious, modern yet homely retreats among the coffee trees. With a soothing rainfall shower and generous bathtub, a private outside terrace with log fire, a 32" TV with satellite service and attractive décor reflecting the omnipresent theme of coffee, a Plantation Suite invites guests to relax and unwind.

About Arusha

Arusha is a small but busy Tanzanian city on the southern side of Mount Meru, close to the border of Kenya. It is the centre for wildlife tourism in Northern Tanzania, being the gateway to many of Tanzania’s premium safari parks and destinations, including the Serengeti, Manyara, Ngorongoro and Mt Kilimanjaro.

At 1400 metres, Arusha has a cool comfortable climate, with fertile forest soils that have historically supported expansive coffee plantations, many of which are still operational today. Arusha town is also the commercial centre for mining of Tanzanite, a precious stone only found in Tanzania, and said to be a thousand times rarer than diamonds.

Getting There

Arusha Coffee Lodge is strategically located on the western edge of Arusha, and is five minutes from the Arusha Airport.

  • Transfer time to/from Kilimanjaro International Airport: Between 1 hour and 1.5 hours depending on time of day.
  • Transfer time to/from Arusha Coffee Lodge to Arusha Town centre: 35 minutes drive (approx)
  • Transfer time to/from Arusha Coffee Lodge to Arusha airstrip : 10 minutes drive (approx)

Arusha Coffee Lodge is located within fields of coffee plantations encompassed with countless mature trees, and as part of its sustainability efforts maintains its natural vegetation.

Located within Arusha Coffee Lodge is Shanga which is a social enterprise that provides employment to people with disabilities. They create unique and high-quality handmade jewellery, glassware and homewares incorporating recycled materials. Shanga employs skilled glass-blowers, bead makers and weavers to create their products.

The lodge provides old linens and towels to a nearby children’s clinic called The Plaster House as well as occasional vouchers for fundraising events. It is designed for children with treatable disabilities and ailments who cannot cover their medical costs and provides rehabilitation to the children.
